Privacy Policy

Who We Are

CapCheck HVAC is provided by CakeMade. Contact us about privacy at capcheckhvac@gmail.com.

This policy covers the Android app, including advertising, optional measurement services, and the optional one-time ad-removal purchase. Available privacy controls depend on the installed version. Version 1.1.6 introduces the independent choices described below; older versions do not have those controls.

Calculator and Local Preferences

Voltage, amperage, capacitance, tolerance, and results are processed on your device. We do not upload those values or collect customer records or job details. The calculator works without an internet connection or a CapCheck account. Theme, frequency, privacy choices, and purchase entitlement are stored locally.

Advertising

Google AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and share IP addresses, IP-derived approximate location, advertising or other device identifiers, app/ad interactions, and diagnostic information. These are used to provide and measure advertising, understand performance, and prevent fraud. Device identifiers are pseudonymous, not necessarily anonymous.

Advertising choices are handled separately by Google's consent service where required. In the app's Privacy screen, use Manage advertising privacy choices when that option is available. Android also provides advertising-ID controls. Refusing personalized advertising does not necessarily stop all advertising or all advertising-related data processing. Purchasing ad removal stops app ad requests; it does not erase data already collected.

Usage Analytics

Google Analytics for Firebase processes app-instance identifiers, app/device information, IP-derived approximate location, usage events, and automatic purchase events to help us understand use and improve the app. We do not send calculator inputs or set a named user ID.

In version 1.1.6, usage analytics is off by default. It is enabled only through an independent optional choice and can be disabled in Settings > Privacy without losing calculator access. This version disables Analytics advertising-ID collection and denies its advertising-storage, advertising-user-data, and ad-personalization consent. This does not disable AdMob's separate advertising functionality.

In version 1.1.5 and earlier, Analytics was enabled after the privacy acknowledgement, without an independent analytics switch. Advertising identifiers could be collected by that integration. The new controls do not retroactively erase older data or change older installed versions.

Crash Diagnostics

Firebase Crashlytics handles stack traces, technical logs, app/device/OS details, app state, and installation identifiers to help diagnose crashes. We do not intentionally attach calculator inputs.

In version 1.1.6, crash reporting is optional and off by default. The SDK stores crash reports locally. Reports are sent on a later launch only while the crash-reporting choice remains enabled. Disabling reporting stops our diagnostic logging and requests deletion of queued reports when processed by the SDK. Already-sent reports and an upload already in progress cannot be recalled by changing the switch.

Earlier versions used automatic Crashlytics reporting without this independent switch. Update to version 1.1.6 when available to use the new controls.

Purchases

Google Play processes the optional one-time ad-removal purchase, payment information, and order history under its own policies. The app receives product, purchase-token, and entitlement information to validate and restore access. We do not receive payment-card details. No CapCheck account is created. Analytics may record purchase events as described above.

Recipients and Security

Google services and their service providers receive the data described above. Advertising partners may also receive advertising-related information. Service transmissions use encrypted HTTPS connections. Service dashboards require authorized account access. Processing may occur outside your country. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Retention

Local preferences remain until app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. Clearing storage also resets local choices. Uninstalling does not erase previously uploaded records or Google Play purchase history.

Crashlytics generally retains submitted crash data and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning deletion from its systems. Our Analytics property is configured for 2-month event-data and 14-month user-data retention, with the user-data period resetting on new activity. Those limits do not cover most aggregated reports. Advertising and Google Play records follow their providers' retention policies, including fraud-prevention, security, and legal requirements. Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve requests and meet legal obligations.

Your Choices and Requests

In version 1.1.6, analytics and crash-reporting choices can be changed independently in Settings > Privacy. Ad removal does not change those optional choices. Turning analytics off resets its local data and app-instance identifier; it does not itself delete previously uploaded records.

For access, deletion, or other applicable privacy requests, email capcheckhvac@gmail.com. We will explain available options, necessary verification, and any retention limitations. Because there is no app account, an email address alone may not identify your pseudonymous SDK records. Do not send payment-card details, calculator readings, or customer records. You may also exercise applicable rights through Google or your privacy authority.

Audience and Changes

CapCheck HVAC is intended for adult HVAC technicians, not children. We may update this policy when data practices change. Material new optional collection requires a new choice rather than treating continued use as consent.
